EXCEPTIONAL MOSS POINT TEEN NAMED ‘YOUTH OF THE YEAR’ BY BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS OF JACKSON COUNTY

Kendrick Cooley Jr. to Now Vie for State Title and Scholarship

 

MOSS POINT, Miss. – February 17, 2025 – Selected among hundreds of outstanding youth, Kendrick Cooley Jr. has been named the Youth of the Year by Boys & Girls Clubs of Jackson County.  The Youth of the Year title is a prestigious honor bestowed upon an exemplary young person in recognition of leadership, service, academic excellence, dedication to live a healthy lifestyle, and life and workforce readiness.

Now in its 78th year, the Youth of the Year program honors our nation’s most awe-inspiring young people on their path to great futures. Kendrick will go on to vie for the Mississippi Youth of the Year title and a $2,500 college scholarship from Kohl’s.

“We are so proud of Kendrick Cooley Jr. in being selected for this award. He is a great role model for our students and a great representation of Jackson County and the City of Moss Point. He leads by example,” said CEO Jennifer Anderson of Boys & Girls Clubs of Jackson County.

Kendrick Cooley Jr. has leadership roles in school, church, and community organizations. He is the Co-Chair of the Mayor’s Youth Council, works with the Moss Point Youth Development Baseball League, and has received many community awards in academics, leadership, and sports.
